Ayamma Mohsin
"In my early professional years, I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question: "How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?” -Carl R. Rogers I’m Ayamma, a UK qualified psychotherapist, with a Masters in Counseling from the University of Edinburgh. I work with clients long term, in an open ended manner, offering them a safe, warm space to bring all parts of their humanity, and use tools from a variety of therapeutic modalities, to encourage them to think more about their lives, their relationship to themselves and others, and contextualize their struggles in the lives they’ve lived. I believe that given the right environment and support, each individual is well equipped to create their best life for themselves, and a lot of my work with clients is rooted in the therapeutic relationship my clients and I build together. We use this relationship to reflect on the client’s experience of themselves, of relationships and of the world they inhibit. I work integratively, borrowing from psychodynamic, intergenerational, humanistic and relational modalities of therapy. My work with each client is a unique mix of modalities, reflective of what the client is needing from the therapeutic space.
