“Difficult feelings exist whether we like them or not. Far too often we are given advice to distract ourselves from these feelings, to cheer up and “don’t think about it.” But feelings do not dissolve with a positive attitude and a good distraction. They usually mutate, perhaps sink deeper than before, growing in different directions seeking some sort of release.” “Therapy can help us explore such feelings, allowing us to lean in a little closer to hear what they’re saying. Therapy can help us release these feelings in an emotionally safe space so that they no longer feel as heavy.” Maheen Saeed is a foreign qualified integrative therapist based in Lahore. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Abertay University, Scotland, and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from University of Toronto, Canada. Before training as a therapist, Maheen worked as a teacher trainer in the non-profit sector and a ESL teacher for migrant women. She believes that her diverse work experience has been invaluable in helping her to connect with people from all walks of life. Maheen is passionate about empowering people through therapy. She believes that different therapeutic interventions work for different people, and it is therefore important to tailor therapy to each client’s goals, preferences and views. She works hard to cultivate collaborative and transparent relationships with her clients, and encourages client feedback. Maheen works face-to-face and online, with adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, life transitions, and self-esteem. Her work applies person-centered, psychodynamic and solution focused theories. She is keenly interested in the implications of gender and culture on mental health.
