Mehr-un-Nisa Waheed
My name is Mehr-un-Nisa Waheed and I am a psychotherapist currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. I have been working in the mental health field since 2016 in Lahore, Pakistan and London, UK. I have an MSc in Mental Health Studies from the Institute of Psychiatry (IoPPN), King’s College London and a BSc (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Derby with accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS). In the UK, I have worked at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, facilitating carers of individuals with psychosis. I also have experience working in forensic psychiatry at Elysium Healthcare. In Pakistan, I have worked in the clinical and forensic psychology field for five years. I also have experience in helping adolescents, having gained knowledge about developmental psychology and psychopathology while working with abandoned children and teenagers in Lahore. I utilise cognitive therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), trauma-focused CBT and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I believe in tailoring and implementing different therapeutic modalities based on the client’s needs and preferences. My approach involves forming a therapeutic alliance with clients to help them collaboratively develop and agree upon goals and interventions that best suit them. My ultimate aim in the therapeutic process is to help clients gain the skills, techniques and understanding that will facilitate them to eventually become their own therapists.
